Computer Training Workshops for Primary School Pupils July 2010
Computer Training Workshops for school pupils recently finished at the IT Training Centre, Mountmellick Development Association (MDA), Mountmellick, and have again been very successful. Training covered topics such as, Computing with Care with the implementation of a variety of educational programs funded by the Department of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources as part of their eInclusion BenefIT.
During the workshops children learned the basics in word processing and desktop publishing. Internet training modules were also covered with the focus on surfing with care. The children participating on the course had an enjoyable time while learning the fundamentals in computing.
Each child received a certificate of competence on completion of the course, there were two award for outstanding performers which, were presented to --
Imelda Burke, IT Manager and Tutor at MDA who delivered the training said, “Once again the children were very enthusiastic, parents of children contributed a hundred percent commitment and attendance by all involved was extremely good. Imelda also mentioned that the MDA IT Training Centre was completely accessible and could cater for people with a wide range of disabilities. The MDA was now a registered FETAC centre as well as been affiliated to City & Guilds and the ICS –Skills (Irish Computer Society).”
