NATIONAL HERITAGE WEEK 2022.

Save the Date: Wednesday 17th August 2022.

To celebrate National Heritage Week we invite you to enjoy our museum visitor experience, free of charge, including a welcome video and guided tour at 10am, 12 noon, 2pm, and last tour at 4pm.

Hear the Stories of Mountmellick's rich Quaker Heritage, the Famine, Mountmellick Workhouse and the girls transported to Australia under the Earl Grey Scheme, Mountmellick Embroidery and the dynamic women involved since 1825, and much much more.

We will have information on embroidery classes and workshops for the coming season, promoting it as a living craft and part of Ireland's Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Here at the museum embroidery connects satisfyingly in a timeless circle, with much loved old household pieces alongside new contemporary fashioned items. We hope the two feel quiet at ease together, the antique and the future antique side by side.

Here at the museum our origins are deeply rooted in the past, but our vision is firmly set on the future.

Welcome.
